A heat press is a hot plate plus a way to put pressure on a shirt. The type you buy is mostly about how that plate moves.
You pull a drawer out, lay the shirt on it, push a button, and the machine does the press. HTVRONT Auto 2 and Cricut AutoPress 2 work this way. Even pressure, hands out of the way, enough height for a hoodie. They’re heavy (40+ lb) and they take a real spot on the table. Plan on about $350.

The top plate folds down like a laptop lid. You pull the handle. Most of the cheap 15×15 machines (VEVOR and the like) are this. Less money, easy to find used. The hinge side can press harder than the front, and a thick hoodie fights you as it closes.
EasyPress is a hot plate with a handle. You put it on the shirt and lean. No frame, and the big consumer size is 12×10, not 15×15. Fine for totes, kids’ stuff, and a closet. Not the tool if you told someone you’d do a full-front adult tee in one pass.
